2003 Churchill's Vintage Case
"Full, dark colour with a strong purple hue. The nose is closed but powerfull and complex with an underlying aroma of concentrated ripe berries. On the palate there is good intensity, excellent natural acidity and a very fine long finish. A well balanced wine that reminds me in style of a blend of the 2000 and the 1994 Vintages." - Johnny Graham, 2021.
Produced with old vines (on average over 50 years old) from the Cima Corgo sub-region in the Douro Valley, of which the backbone comes from the old vines of Quinta da Gricha.
THE YEAR
Normal, rainy winter. Dry spring. Normal temperatures for the season, except the end of July and beginning of August (45ºC during the day and 30ºC at night). Abnormally high temperatures during the harvest. Full-bodied wines with tannins, that give them good ageing potential. Exceptional quality.
